Travelling around the world is as easy as ABC

It took so easy and I spent less to travel the beautiful places around the world. Only this summer, I visited the night-loving people of Paris. I explored their amazing bars. I went to Rome, enjoying to the brim their world-famous architecture. Venice is so pretty to stay longer with someone whom you love so much. The place is romantic, ideal for lovers. But I never had a chance to peek in the world's tiny city-state of Vatican. It has been my dream to land on the Pope's home but time won't permit me. The next day, I proceeded to Denmark, the world's corruption-free country in the West. I just stayed there in a wee hours for some reasons though I virtually frolicked with every moment I spent in there. I skipped Paris. Instead, I journeyed to the historic city of Warsaw. I spent a little longer moments and I truly love the place. It's cool. (To be continued)

Being Laconic

In writing principle, brevity and coherence are essentially significant. Brief but concise article always takes the insight. In other word, if we can narrow down our multi-paragraph article into a single paragraph, our masterpiece would be as “perfect literature” as it could possibly be. If that one-paragraph expression of ideas can be shortened to a sentence, readers could easily seize the very essence and thought of the work.

What is left then in the article? A single sentence. But it speaks the totality of what you think. However, if we think a single word can precisely describe a sentence we write, then we should trim down the many-word sentence to a single word. Additionally, if you think that certain word can be effectively substituted by a single alphabetical letter, the language would be greatly regarded as “perfect rhetoric”.

Do you think you still need to impress your readers by having a single alphabetical letter to completely say your ideas? Not anymore? Then, don’t write at all. The logic is: don’t take anything, write an article or say a word if you think it would literally or verbally be unnecessary. It would only confuse the matter along the way. So, mute yourself off.

That’s all about the virtue of laconicity, a magical reality in the real sense. It is magical because it appraises huge value or importance for a solo but concise material. Laconic man, on the other hand, advocates a word but it says a thousand wisdoms. All kings are laconic, so are the heads of states. Their being laconic is implicitly contained in their summons, declarations, announcements and decrees. The judges and legislators are also laconic themselves. Court proceedings and trials are laconic in forms. But their resolutions and decisions are heavily long-winded and complex. That’s the baffling, grim reality.

Today, laconicity virtually applies to modern–day writing. Media or writing people must adhere to the Spartan concept of laconic. However, there are some newspapermen who still don’t observe the common rules of brevity, coherence and concision. There are some lengthy write-ups from so-called “writers” that fall prey to the basic norms. The real danger is the plain fact that these are being read by people who beyond doubt anticipate instant learning from the articles. But if we take an honest, closer look at them, their writings carry an alarming mistake. “Their stuffs can in fact be shortened or some sentences or paragraphs can be potentially omitted”.

This Spartanic approach, of course, is relatively vital. What we persuade here is the application of the principles of laconicity into writing, or even speaking. Laconicity does not in any way eliminate substance of the article. Instead, it gives a nearly perfect definition of rhetoric. Being laconic in writing is something what the people need today. In the midst of advance technology and complicated digital world, people are becoming busy who have a particular inclination to skip wordy and knotty genres, mostly relying on the convenience of the virtual reality which is comparatively synonymous to laconicity. Why still write if the readers have a propensity to rebound your hard work?

A truly strange party ever

Would it be highly possible for us all to hold an all-night-long party with among friendster loyalists? I mean, for us all 16 friendster advocates? It’s heavily a strange idea that invades my mind. But we can not certainly discount any possibility. So long each advocate seems fascinated of the initiative, nothing is impossible.

However, alarming problem rises. What if a member resides somewhere in the south? Or, in the north? Let’s say Dustin who lives and studies in Ilocos Norte. Almer works in Manila and sometimes in Cebu. And Enrico who migrated in the U.S., so is Josh in Italy. The rest are in Bacolod.

Time also shares the doom, not even to mention the trouble of monetary aspect. Does Dustin have enough time for the proposal? What about Enrico and Josh? Do they just buy the idea and step down the plane for such bash? Heck, only they who know the answer.

That’s adventure. Cool adventure. Great adventure. Should we share the same interest, the same hallucination, that truly strange party ever will come into reality.

Pinoys enjoy unlimited txt

Cn we be txtmate?" is the starting phrase of word.

"How did u get my number?" is the inquiry that follows.

"Ur name please? " is statement that has become a cliche.

Now, the unending exchanging of text messages occupies the students' day-to-day routine. From early in the morning up to the sunset till midnight, students appear oblivious of the realities. They have become the modern barbarians who feel no pain of life's struggle. They have become extremely numb.

"Nang, 60 smart e-load please", one declares upon approaches to the loading station. Then, she types TXT and sends to 258. Now, she can send unlimited text messages to "sawa". And her life becomes as colorful and as enjoyable as she is.

She texts as there is no tomorrow. She seldom takes "merienda". She sometimes fails to study her lessons. She one time skips classes. She always carries the cp with her, and looks down on it: "may message ko!" Virtually, she gains friends; she even earns enemies.

"Pasalod bi? Ubos na ang load ko." Now, the story repeats itself. And her life runs a complicated story.

"Happy ka ba?"

Beijing 2008: USA vs China Games

Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games are finally over but most people from around the world remain uncertain of the world’s biggest sporting event. The USA just hurdled a total of 110 medals, while the China got 100. The next rank grabbed almost half of the latter. Most media coverage worldwide are focused on how USA defeated China or how China won over USA. Are the Olympic games designed for USA and China alone?

Four years from now, another Olympic games will invade London. That’s four years from now but massive questions as to how it will look like start pouring in.

Will the London 2012 be parallel to that of Beijing 2008? What about the striving Russia, Great Britain and Australia which rank next after the two?

Will there be “London 2012 USA vs Russia? China vs Great Britain? Or, Australia defeats USA and China?

Does USA or China truly deserve a limelight?

If not, then, what?
